The Best La Cruz Beach Restaurants
Hanging out on a sunny day at one of the La Cruz beach restaurants is where you want to be on your vacation. Sipping on a frosty margarita or a cold beer with your toes in the sand or relaxing on a lounger listening to the waves break is perfect! Semana Santa is just about here, (April 5th) and the kids will be arriving for spring break and the celebrating goes on for 2 weeks. April 5th is also the day we “srping forward” with the time change and move our clocks forward one hour. There is still some time to get in some “beach time” before the crowds get here!
There are a couple of La Cruz beach restaurants that are my favorites, due to the good food, good service, entertainment, and above all, the playa! The beach is one of the reasons why we come to the amazing Banderas Bay! So get out there and enjoy yourself. Relaxing time reading a book,, swimming, eating and drinking, or dancing to a little rock and roll music on the beach. it’s ALL good! Here are a couple of my favorite beach spots.
Nahui Beach Restaurant
First off, Destilideras beach is my favorite beach on the Riviera Nayarit. Located just outside of La Cruz (towards Punta Mita) its easy to get to by bus, as the bus stops right there. The bus schedule is every 15 minutes so your never waiting too long, and is 8 pesos. There is also a large parking lot on top with plenty of parking. As you get to the parking lot, you will notice a La Cruz beach restaurant to the left. This is a lovely restaurant called Nahui Beach Restaurant. In fact, the sign at the bus stop says Nahui beach. They have a large palapa with tables up top overlooking the Banderas Bay and the Marietta Islands, making it a perfect venue for larger groups, parties and weddings. Down below on the playa you will find a long row of tables and loungers with umbrellas in a private cove setting, set apart from Destilideras beach proper. There are no stairs, so folks that have a difficult time walking, or use a wheel chair can get down to the beach. There are also pop up shade tents set up between the beach and the restaurant. There is no charge for the tables and chairs as long as your buying your food and drinks. Prices are friendly and local. Discover this private cove for yourself. It will be one of your favorite places to spend the day, or a romantic sunset dinner overlooking the bay and islands.
Las Palapas Grill
Located on Manzanillo beach you will find Las Palapas Grill in La Cruz. They are easy to find. If you walk to the beach just down from the La Cruz plaza, they are about a 3- minute walk down the playa to the right.. Las Palapas Grill has a beautiful restaurant with padded chairs under the three palapas, down on the beach are palapas with tables and chairs, with lights for night time. They have also added some beach loungers this season. Chef Lalo creates all of his plates with passion. Good tasting food with a fun plating. Click here to see directions and their regular menu. Amigos de La Cruz Fundraiser Event
Amigos de La Cruz is hosting a 5K Zombie fun run in La Cruz. The fun run is designed to bring more awareness to the work that is being done for Highway Beautification project that Amigos has taken on by hiring two full time employees, local to La Cruz, who provide landscape maintenance and trash/debris clean up along the 200 HWY section running through town. All proceeds from the run will go toward this project.
Participants in the run can either sign up as a Runner or a Zombie. Runners be given a belt with two “lives” on streamers and can purchase as many additional lives as they want for 20 pesos each. Sponsors can also purchase “lives” for their favorite runners.
Runners and zombies will start the race at two sections of the highway, with zombie’s attempting to steal runners”lives” (streamers) and runners trying to evade and outlast the zombies. Prizes will be give the first runner and zombie to complete the finish line and also to the runner and zombie in the first top ten finishers with the most lives intact or taken, respectively.
The course will start at the entrance to La Cruz and take a turn at the streetlight, main road down to the marina, through the marina and out to the point on the malecon/seawall and return route up to entrance of town.

I would also like to add that the Murder Mystery Play I was in (Mrs. Molly Devaro Keal) was a blast! A terrific director Patricia Spencer and all cast and crew, along with the amigos made it all happen. The fundraiser event had a net profit of 33,546 pesos which goes into the Amigos environmental fund to cover the costs of our highway, street and recycling programs. Here is a fun photo with my friend Madeline’s son Maxwell.
Thanks for reading and Happy Easter everyone!
