La Cruz Mexico folks (and beyond) enjoyed the annual Amigos de La Cruz “Welcome Back” party that took place this last Wednesday evening (Dec. 3rd) at Roberto’;s Xocolati’ La Cruz restaurant. What an amazing view of the bay and La Cruz Marina! Chris Bouchard from Villa Amor del Mar / La Cruz Mexico was the MC for the fiesta, with his wife Cindy taking care of the silent auction. Thanks to Lori Wilson and all of the Amigo volunteers that helped make this night possible! Myself and the ladies were running around selling the 50/50 raffle tickets to which the winner won over 6000 pesos! The evening began with the amazing Tatewari Trio playing Flamenco music. Mimi, Easu and Danny were all born and raised in our little pueblo of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Mexcio! Sonny is usually on the drums during the high season but could not make it this evening.
Saxophone and flute extraordinaire Grammy winning musician Bryan Savage came on stage for the second half of the evening dazzling us with his original music as he floated through the crowd playing his sax.
Dinner of Fajitas with all of the fixins was excellent with the chicken tender and juicy, as well as the steak cooked perfectly. Dinner was served in rounds which kept everything fresh and hot. The place was packed to the giills!
The Amigos de La Cruz is in the process of getting its paperwork updated to meet with new regulations and is actively seeing donations for its new Adopt A Highway program in which the Amigos has adopted the stretch of highway from OXXO to the bridge. Donations will help the Amigos provide regular maintenance of the medians in an effort to present a clean and cheerful welcome to the town. The Amigos also needs volunteers to assist with its environmental and medical programs. Anyone interested in donating, volunteering, or becoming or renewing their memberships (only 250 pesos) can contact the Amigos de La Cruz at email@example.com.

Las Palapas Grill is a La Cruz beach restaurant who have re-opened and are planning on staying open all year around, which is AWESOME for us crazy full time La Cruz Mexico locals! Previously known as the “Tres Palapas,”, former owner Ewe and his family had to leave, which left his partner Luciano to continue or not. So the new “Las Palapas Grill” has the same owner, as well as the same great chef and staff!
Live music with a PV band called the “Hangars” plays every Sunday beginning at 7pm. They play some different tunes than some of the other local bands like Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond..and other good classic rock songs you can dance to that I have not heard in a while.
Sundays drink special is 2X1 margaritas any way you like…ME? I am all about Mango Margaritas lately, Although I did try Fernando’s regular margarita the other day and it was really good! To quote Fernando, “The best margaritas in La Cruz Mexico!”. They also are still serving their famous loster and have daily food speials. Wednesdays live music with the “What’s Up Band” with Andrea getting the crowd going as they rock the palapa! They also have food specials and good pricing on their menu.
Many folks are asking how to get to Las Palapas Grill. The easiest way is to take the main hwy headed out to Punta de Mita, past the stop light. When you see the large speed bump (tope) make a left towards the ocean. The veggie Nayarit market (an awesome veggie market) is on the left. Go to the end of the street; it turns into a dirt road and the dry rivier bed. Go right at the sign and down to the playa. You may also get there from the playa; its about 6 minute walk from the La Cruz town square. Facil ! (easy)
Ana Banana Bar and Grill has “Rock ‘n’ Roll Donny and the 5 Months Blind Band” for Coffee House Friday beginning at 7pm playing fun dance music like “Johnny Be Good”. Other musicians also come up to play…Ya never know WHO is going to show up!
Saturday Brunch with live music… A new breakfast / brunch and live music with guitarist Ralph form the Rhythm Roosters from 8:30 – 11am . A good way to start the day!
Every Sunday is Rib Night! come on over for the What’s Up Band with Adriana singing all of our favorite songs! (photo left)
Meatloaf Monday brings on the Classic Rock Jam with “The Good Stuff”. (photo right) Lead singer Andra has come a long way in only one year and sounds fabulous! They play ALL the favorite classic rock and really rock the house! The homemade meatloaf is juicy and served with all the comfort style fixins.
R&R Hardly Strictly Blues Band play every Wednesday with the food special Beer, Brats, Beans and Burgers. Come relax and enjoy some blues.
I would like to finish the post with a link to my friend Cindy Bouchard’s post, who owns Villa Amor del Mar in La Cruz Mexico with her husband Chris. She recently wrote a very cute “He said, She said” article for her blog. Click on the link and scroll down a bit for the article.
